You should try it with wine

When it comes to having something to eat with wine most people will agree that chocolate comes to mind. It is a sweet snack which complements the tarter taste of wine. One typical combination is to have red or white wine with plain dark chocolate while the truffle varieties which have a richer flavor go well with drier wines. If you are considering having a food snack before you indulge in chocolate which can then be dessert with your wine try some.

Broiled shrimp is usually great with white or rose wines and then afterwards you can continue on and have a chocolate feast.

If you are planning on enjoying some more wine after a meal you might consider having berries like raspberries, strawberries, blueberries or blackberries which are compliment wine just fine. The berries of your choice can be a bit frozen and then placed right into the wine glasses which will make them look so nice and colorful while they keep your wine chilled.

There are many popular wine pairings when it comes to wine and food. Among them the choices most preferred are Italian food where the Italian wine Chianti comes out on top. Some typical pairings are pasta and pizza or salami with mozzarella. You might even indulge in a nice large plate of antipasto which will give you a great taste treat washed down by delicious wine. If you prefer having some seafood usually with white or rose wines try sautéed shrimp which can even be added to some pasta.

If you are considering making chicken then it depends on whether you choose to have white meat or dark meat. Usually the white meat of the chicken goes well with white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay and the dark meat of the chicken with red wines like Pinot Noir or Zinfandel. So the choice is yours and to make it really delicious make some mole sauce to accompany your chicken.

If you’re just having some snacks with wine a wonderful combination is wine and cheese. Just take different kinds of cheeses and cube them and prick with toothpicks. You can have fun experimenting with various textures and flavors and finding just the right wine pairings. Some of the typical wine pairings include bleu cheese with port wine or aged Gouda with Cabernet Sauvignon. You can take a look online and find different wine pairings just right for the cheese you have chosen. Along with the cheese serve a variety of crackers.

Robust red wine goes well with hearty hummus which is packed with protein. You can make it at home or pick up some at the store. Hummus is great with wine when accompanied by some crisp veggies or pita bread. Add an additional drizzle of fresh olive oil to your hummus and you have an awesome wine pairing.

Even though peanuts are served as a salty snack with beer the richer nuts like cashews go well with wine. Some of the best wine pairings are cashews and pistachios with white wines like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio or almonds and hazelnuts with champagne or chardonnay. Either way nuts and wine complement each other well and you can make your choice of pairings.

Another delicious wine pairing is grapes with wine. Lighter wines do well with tarter green grapes and richer wines with purple or black grapes. For a real treat before serving make sure the grapes are well chilled.

So whatever choice you make on wine pairings you know that you’ll enjoy both the wine and the food or snacks.
