Step Up Your Spring Smoothie Game With This Brain Boosting Creation

Kickstarting your morning with a nourishing breakfast is one of the best ways to set yourself up for the day. A healthy mealtime routine not only gives you a dose of much-needed vitamins and nutrients but can also help you stay focused and productive until your next meal.

Just like the rest of your body, your brain requires fuel to function at its best. Glucose is the brain’s main source of energy and after fasting overnight, this supply is depleted. Choosing nutritious options throughout the day is important, and this all starts with a wholesome breakfast.

According to Amazonia’s Head Dietitian, Tara Kaff, a delicious yet reliable option is the old faithful breakfast smoothie:

Choc Acai Smoothie

The base of this smoothie is made from hand-harvested Acai, which contains 7 x the antioxidants of blueberries plus Omega-3, 6 & 9 essential fatty acids. Antioxidants neutralise free radicals in our bodies, helping to minimise inflammation and boost overall health. In addition to being brain boosters, Acai is also skin and hair saviours.

Adding an extra hit of antioxidants is the cacao: it's also a great source of fibre, protein, potassium, magnesium, and natural compounds known to reduce anxiety and lift our moods. Mix these together with frozen bananas, nut butter, oat milk and frozen berries and you've got a delicious Choc Acai Smoothie that tastes naughty, but is seriously good for you.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 x Amazonia Acai Pure Sachets
  2. 2 frozen bananas, chopped
  3. 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  4. 2 tbsp cacao peanut spread
  5. 1 tbsp cacao powder
  6. 3/4 cup oat milk (or other plant-based milk)

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender, blend until smooth. Add more oat milk if required.
  2. Pour into a jar/glass and layer with buckinis (or granola), additional cacao peanut spread, and/or choc almonds.

Vanilla Macadamia Mylkshake

This concoction tastes like candy, but it’s full of good-for-you ingredients. With their subtle, butter-like flavour and creamy texture, macadamias are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, antioxidants and minerals. For a hint of natural caramel sweetness, add medjool dates – which contain 12% RDI of fibre, promote digestive health and help prevent cardiovascular disease. The addition of Raw Protein Slim & Tone Vanilla Cinnamon means you'll stay fuller for longer. This low-carb blend is packed full of thermogenic herbs, 74 trace minerals, essential amino acids, greens, Iron, Phosphorous, Zinc, and 22g of plant protein to help boost metabolism and reduce cravings.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 serve Raw Protein Slim & Tone Vanilla Cinnamon
  2. 250ml non-dairy milk
  3. 1 frozen banana
  4. ¹/₄ cup macadamia nuts
  5. 2 medjool dates

Directions:

  1. Add ingredients into a blender and combine
  2. Pour into a glass, drizzle with peanut butter and enjoy immediately
